n8n, in one sentence
n8n is an open-source workflow automation platform — it connects
different tools and apps together so that repetitive, manual work (moving
data between systems, sending follow-up emails, routing a new lead to the
right person) happens automatically instead of by hand.
How it's different from Zapier or Make
The functional idea is similar — trigger, steps, action — but the
differences matter for a business making a long-term bet on automation:
- Self-hostable. n8n can run on infrastructure you control, instead of
being locked entirely to a vendor's cloud and pricing. - Node-level flexibility. Complex, multi-step logic — including
calling out to AI models mid-workflow — is easier to build and debug
than in most no-code-only tools. - No per-task pricing surprise. Proprietary platforms often charge per
"task" or "operation," which gets expensive fast at real usage volume.
Why Varix specializes in it
